Open on XCircuitLord's free Titanfall 2 VR mod is getting multiplayer. "what better way to celebrate 10 years of Titanfall 2 than VR MULTIPLAYER!!!" he posted on October 28. Titanfall 2 launched on October 28, 2016. The open beta starts October 29.
I haven't played it. This is based on CircuitLord's posts and trailer, his installer repo and earlier press coverage.
What's announced
The trailer opens on "After 10 Years" and ends on a "Multiplayer Open Beta" title card. In between, pilots give a thumbs-up in a dropship, fight from Titan cockpits and crowd around the camera on a map. Details are going to Discord. "i'll be sharing more details on the open beta in my VR mods discord here!" CircuitLord wrote. His X posts and the installer repo don't list a start time, modes or player counts.
He first teased multiplayer on October 7. Asked whether players on Northstar servers would see VR pilots' body IK, he answered: "the servers will be VR only". Later clips showed what's networked:
- Proximity chat (Oct 14): "we've had so many fun and dynamic moments only possible in VR!"
- Rodeo (Oct 15): "you can physically interact with the battery, or pop a grenade in to deal damage!"
- Hands (Oct 17): "fully networked hands and fingers, along with gun reloads!"

From campaign to servers
The mod launched on September 29 as a campaign conversion. The installer README still describes it that way. It promises "full VR support to the Titanfall 2 campaign". It lists "stereo rendering, full body IK, manual reloads, Titan controls, and more!" Its reception, and the mods it inspired, are in our Gears of War: E-Day VR post.
Road to VR reported on October 2 that the mod "only supports the game's single-player campaign". On October 7, CircuitLord, whose real name is Jordan Juarez, told The Verge he was getting "a ton of requests to add multiplayer modes with private VR servers" and was working on it.
What the replies are asking
Comfort is the obvious one. The VR Verdict asked: "How are you handling wall-running without wrecking everyone's stomach?" Road to VR noted the mod's snap turning option on October 2. It also warned there's "only so much that can be done to mitigate the potential motion sickness of running along walls and whipping through the air on a grapple."
Others asked about Frontier Defense, players per team and bans. None had a public reply on X by 2:30 PM ET. One reply just said "Vibecoded slop". CircuitLord told The Verge the game design is still his own work. He credited AI with helping "on the reverse engineering side of things and for speeding up the development process in general."
