Two of Bugbear's demolition racers went VR last week, for free. Saikava's FlatOut 2 VR shipped Oct 19. sqofer's Wreckfest VR followed Oct 24. Both put you in the driver's seat with head tracking and keep the game's own wheel or gamepad controls.
I haven't played either mod. This is based on the two GitHub repos, their release notes, and creator and player clips.
FlatOut 2 VR: a cockpit the game never had
The game's inside camera shows no car around you. Saikava's mod builds a cockpit: the driver's hands on the wheel, dashboard, roof, pillars and glass. Gauges, position, lap and map sit on one curved band across the dash.

The repo lists 12 releases, from v1.0 on Oct 19 to v1.6.3 on Oct 26. Highlights from the notes:
- v1.2: the cockpit, convex side mirrors with per-eye depth, and a view that stays in the driver's head when he's thrown through the windscreen.
- v1.3: sets FlatOut2.exe's "large address aware" flag so the 32-bit game can use 4 GB, after larger tracks ran out of memory in VR.
- v1.4: drive with Touch, Index or WMR controllers, with crash vibration.
- v1.5 to v1.6: an experimental grab-the-wheel mode, and a cockpit wheel that matches your real wheel's rotation.
Physics steps once per headset frame at 72, 90 or 120 Hz. The release bundles DXVK, which the README says the mod needs "to hand the game's picture to the headset."

Wreckfest VR: one EXE, one Steam build
sqofer's README lists "two native engine camera renders with OpenXR eye poses" and stereo menu backgrounds behind a transparent UI panel. It drives with the game's own input: "VR motion-controller driving is not implemented." The cockpit driver stays hidden, as in the flat game.
Open on XThe launcher only accepts Steam Wreckfest x64 build 16986367, because the mod hooks build-specific engine addresses. The README describes an MIT source build, but as of Oct 27 the repo holds only the README and a logo.
The launcher's thank-you screen links to "the developer's VR game," CYBRID. Streamer FitzeVR's clip post adds: "Special Thanks To @tomreason For his work on This Awesome VR Mod". That account belongs to Tom Reason, whose X bio describes a solo developer and lists CYBRID.
sqofer's GitHub also lists VR releases for Dirt 5 (Oct 4), NFS Hot Pursuit (Oct 7), Hot Pursuit Remastered (Oct 11), Mirror's Edge Catalyst (Oct 20) and NFS Most Wanted (Oct 21).

The official alternative
The same week, FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR left Early Access on Oct 23 at $29.99. Its 1.0 post on X leads with "FlatOut 2 physics and AI! We’ve brought over the FO2 code as an optional setting," plus two remastered FlatOut 2 tracks. Flat2VR calls that content "a free taste of a bigger DLC we’re planning."
Saikava's mod puts you in the original FlatOut 2 instead. Problems go to the repo's issues: a ReShade conflict reported Oct 26 was fixed in v1.6.3 the same day.
