GitHub user King-EJ has released 38 flat-to-VR mods in 30 days. The first, for Resident Evil: The Arklay Chronicles, went up Sep 26. The newest, Among the Sleep VR, landed just after midnight ET today.
Most are small horror and indie games built in Unity. Each repo ships a zip you drop into the game folder, plus a plain-text README that lists the controls.
I haven't played any of them. This is based on King-EJ's GitHub READMEs and release pages, the UnflatVR developer page, and gameplay videos from NotAGameAddict and FastLawyer.
One month, one repo every day or so
The pace is the story. Thirty-three of the 38 releases arrived in October, and Oct 22 alone brought BRUTAL JOHN 2, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon and The Mortuary Assistant. The full list lives on King-EJ's GitHub profile.
Few are big names. The catalog runs from Wobbly Life and The Patrick Star Game to Deus Ex: The Fall, Disney Dreamlight Valley and a fan remake of Metal Gear Solid.
The reach is still small. GitHub counts 394 release downloads across all 38 mods. Twisted Tower leads with 67, followed by Rustler (29), The Mortuary Assistant (28), Wobbly Life and Blood West (26 each). Three mods show zero.
Those numbers only count GitHub release assets, so copies shared anywhere else don't show up. UnflatVR, a directory of flat-to-VR mods, lists 11 King-EJ entries so far. It sums them up as "putting a hand-aimed gun, a kart cockpit or a swung sword right in your hands."
The ten most-downloaded, by GitHub release count when we checked Oct 26 morning:
| First release (ET) | Mod | GitHub downloads |
|---|---|---|
| Sep 30 | Twisted Tower | 67 |
| Oct 16 | Rustler | 29 |
| Oct 22 | The Mortuary Assistant | 28 |
| Oct 3 | Wobbly Life | 26 |
| Oct 20 | Blood West | 26 |
| Oct 16 | The Precinct | 24 |
| Oct 13 | Garfield Kart: Furious Racing | 22 |
| Oct 22 | Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon | 20 |
| Oct 10 | Disney Dreamlight Valley | 18 |
| Oct 19 | Devotion | 17 |
The same recipe, game after game
The READMEs read like one template filled in 38 times. Each opens with the engine build and the mod loader. Blood West's header is typical: VR mod for "Blood West" (Unity 2022.3, Mono x64, BepInEx 5).
Thirty of the READMEs mention Unity and 34 mention BepInEx, the common Unity modding loader. Seventeen credit Astien, whose OpenXR bridge is a native DLL that connects the game to your headset runtime. Five credit it as "OpenXR.dll (native OpenXR bridge) by Astien (c) 2025 - free, non-commercial redistribution,". Another says the bridge comes from the MousePI_VR mod and "must stay free of charge."
Controls follow a pattern too. The touch controllers usually pretend to be a gamepad. Blood West's README says "the VR controllers are an Xbox gamepad - menus work with them as with a gamepad, no laser pointer."

Some go further. The Garfield Kart mod seats you "in your kart at your driver's head" and offers optional gyro steering. Its README describes a "Wheel" mode where you "hold both controllers like a steering wheel and turn it".
Among the Sleep goes small. Its README promises "You are the toddler: the house in full 3D, head tracked". It even adds "A flashlight in your left hand (the game has none)".
The builds are labeled early. Blood West is "Version 0.1.12 (test build)." The Mortuary Assistant calls itself "v0.1.5 (testing this out so expect issues)."
What it looks like in a headset
YouTube coverage is small but growing. NotAGameAddict has posted runs of Blood West and Garfield Kart. Paradise Decay covered The Mortuary Assistant, and FastLawyer posted a 46-minute playthrough of it.
FastLawyer's video is the clearest look at the Mortuary Assistant mod. In its README, King-EJ writes: "You see the world from Rebecca's eyes." The left grip holds your task clipboard, and the right controller aims a thin green laser at whatever you want to use.

FastLawyer's video description calls it "the latest FREE VR mod from KingEJ" and links the @K1ngGamer24 channel.
Part of a bigger October flood
King-EJ is the busiest name in a crowded month. On Oct 5, Road to VR wrote that "AI vibecoding has caused a veritable explosion in the VR modding scene." On X, @chasmmmmmmmmmmm put it more bluntly on Oct 25:
"AI really is saving virtual reality as a platform. Now anyone can make an amazing VR port of their favourite game."
Some modders say so on the box. RototRobot's Tomb Raider: Legend VR README says up top: "This mod was made with heavy AI (Claude) assistance." King-EJ's READMEs say nothing about how the mods were built, so we're not guessing.
That is the catch with a flood. King-EJ alone has averaged more than one release a day, and 28 of the 38 mods have fewer than ten GitHub downloads. For now, small directories like UnflatVR and channels like NotAGameAddict's do most of the sorting.
