Far Cry VVR 0.1 Brings Motion Controllers to Far Cry 5

Homard's pre-alpha Far Cry VVR adds tracked hands and sights to Hope County; Luke Ross's R.E.A.L. VR path still uses head aiming on a gamepad.

Modder Homard uploaded Far Cry VVR pre-alpha 0.1 to Nexus Mods on Oct 20, 2026. The listing adds motion-controller aiming, hand models on the grip, and scopes you look through to Ubisoft's 2018 Hope County shooter.

Until this week, Far Cry 5 in VR usually meant Luke Ross's R.E.A.L. VR with head aiming on a gamepad, as Hostile VR summarized in the clip above. See Luke Ross on GTA V Enhanced and our flat-to-VR guide.

I haven't played it. This is based on Homard's Nexus listing, the trailer linked from his Nexus page, Hostile VR's clip, and one skeptical take from Paradise Decay.

On Oct 21, Hostile VR posted the clip above and wrote:

"Far Cry 5 in full VR with motion controller support 🤩

>

Until now, Far Cry 5 could only be played in VR on a gamepad with head aiming, using the Luke Ross mod. Now, things may change, as modder Homard has just released pre-alpha version 0.1 of his VR mod, which adds full motion controller support to the game. This mod is still in a very early stage and not everything works perfectly, but it looks very promising - definitely one to keep an eye on! 😉"

What Homard claims in 0.1

Homard's Nexus description opens:

"I am releasing the pre-alpha 0.1 version of the mod. This is very imperfect but I am going to slow down development from here both because it is consuming a lot of tokens and time."

He says story testing is limited and points sandbox players at the download while he welcomes help.

The feature list on Nexus is long for a first drop. Highlights from the page:

  • Stereo or alternate-eye (AFW) rendering, plus per-eye DLSS or DLAA
  • Weapons in hand with finger poses on grip and trigger; magnified scopes
  • Optional bullet tracers; grab guns from a sling; snap or smooth turn
  • Free look in vehicles; 3D cutscenes; HUD markers parked in the world

Homard credits VR Framework forks, Dishonored VR's AFW work, HenDGS's fc5-dlss path, and CryHook5 for script access. Nexus flags the upload with "Some suspicious files" on its virus scan; treat that as a reason to read the install notes and scan locally.

Luke Ross vs. VVR, and a janky verdict

In the clip above, Hostile VR said Far Cry 5 had only been playable in VR on a gamepad with head aiming through Luke Ross's mod. Homard's pitch is the opposite trade: your hands own the gun, and Nexus tells you to turn off the flat reticle because "The game's own crosshair does not follow the gun."

Not everyone is switching yet. On Oct 22, Paradise Decay posted on X:

"I tried the NEW Farcry 5 and Gears of War VR mods, both very janky. For now stick with Luke Ross for Farcry 5 and UEVR for Gears! #VR #VRMods"

We found no UploadVR or Road to VR story on Far Cry VVR as of Oct 22 afternoon.
