Borderlands 4 in VR: Lorewright Ships a UEVR Profile on GitHub

Lorewright Studios published Borderlands4-VR v1.0 on Nov 3 with hand-aimed guns, stable firing, and ECHO menus in both eyes after early UEVR injects crashed.

Borderlands 4 is Gearbox's 2025 looter shooter on Kairos. It ships for flat monitors only. On November 3, 2026, Lorewright Studios (David Grosso) tagged Borderlands4-VR v1.0 on GitHub: a free UEVR profile, three Lua scripts, and a bundled Lorewright UEVR build tested on Meta Quest 3 over Link.

I have not installed the zip. This is based on the GitHub README, INSTALL.txt, release notes, UnflatVR's listing, and the July Paradise Decay clip above.

What v1.0 claims

The README opens with a bullet list:

  • the gun renders in VR and follows your right hand, with muzzle flash; swaps re-attach automatically
  • shots go where you point the right controller
  • firing never moves the camera (per-shot kick cancelled, camera yaw/roll pinned, position frozen while firing)
  • the ECHO menu (map, skills, inventory, customization) and the pause menu work and show whole in both eyes
  • co-op works (every player in the session runs the profile)

That last line matters for a co-op looter. The install guide adds that an old, stuttering script on the host breaks clients' vertical aim.

Why this is harder than bare UEVR

Borderlands 4 runs Unreal Engine 5.5. Early UEVR injects often crashed at launch, players reported on r/uevr around the game's September 2025 PC debut. Lorewright's technical notes (Oct 31–Nov 3, 2026) spell out Gearbox-specific fixes:

ProblemLorewright's stated fix
Gun and muzzle FX invisible in VRBL4_GunFix.lua pulls weapons out of Gearbox's GbxForeground render pass and attaches them to the right controller
View spins or shakes when firingBL4_RecoilFix.lua cancels per-shot yaw kick and freezes camera position while shooting
ECHO menu split between eyes / hangsCustom VR_2DScreenFullSource option in Lorewright's UEVR fork (branch bl4-menu-fullsource) plus menu detection script

The profile hides first-person arms on purpose; the author says showing them caused a right-eye flicker. Depth of Field must stay off in game options or one eye fills with magenta bokeh, per INSTALL.txt.

Gun renders in VR and follows your right hand, shots go where you point, firing never moves the camera, and the ECHO menu (map / skills / inventory / customization) works. Co-op works.

That blockquote is the header of INSTALL.txt in the full-install zip.

How to install

UnflatVR added the mod on Nov 3, 2026, 7:03 PM CST. Its install summary matches GitHub:

  1. Download Borderlands4-VR_FullInstall_2026-11-03.zip (or the latest full install from Releases).
  2. Copy the UEVR_AutoInject folder somewhere permanent and run UEVRAutoInject.exe.
  3. Press F7, import Borderlands4.zip, set Depth of Field = Disabled under Options → Visuals, then Play in VR with your OpenXR runtime awake.

The launcher must show UEVR Lorewright build - bl4menu-v3-856b490. Stock praydog UEVR splits the ECHO menu between eyes, the README warns.

GitHub counted 4 full-install downloads and 1 profile-only download on the v1.0 assets when we checked Nov 4, 2026 (the repo was created Nov 3). UnflatVR graded the mod B (83/100) with Aim Motion controls.

Grab the zip from Releases. For UEVR context, see GoWEDay-VR and New Eyes on Old Worlds. This profile is a Gearbox Slate UI and foreground-pass puzzle, not a trailer-first drop.
