Holger Frydrych (fholger), the modder behind Crysis VR, has a free Alan Wake VR mod for the original Alan Wake on PC. Version 1.0.0 shipped October 17 as a seated, third-person VR mode. His new previews show first-person hands, holsters and motion controls.
I haven't played it. This is based on fholger's mod page, GitHub releases and YouTube videos.
What you can play now
The mod page promises "6dof headset tracking and synced stereo rendering for a smooth and artifact-free VR experience." Gameplay is untouched. The game stays third-person and is "best experienced seated with a gamepad (or alternatively keyboard and mouse)."
Version 1.1.0 followed on October 20. It moved interaction markers into the 3D scene, raised subtitles on the HUD and turned off vignetting, which "is not stereo-correct". The two installers had 222 GitHub downloads combined when we checked.
First person is coming
fholger posted a first-person VRIK preview on October 23. "Getting there, foundations are working. Still some ways to go :)" he wrote. The October 29 video goes further. "Now got virtual holsters for weapons and utilities that I'm reasonably happy with," he wrote. "Two-handing guns works smoothly, and you can jump-start the generator by physically pulling its handle."

He says the mode "is not released yet" and "still needs some visual polish." There's no release date. PCVR GAMER shared a one-minute cut of the footage on X on October 30.

Who's making it
fholger's GitHub profile calls him "Lead dev for Half-Life 2 VR, creator of vrperfkit and The Dark Mod VR." He also made Far Cry VR and Crysis VR. The Alan Wake README is upfront about tooling: "The code for this mod was (mostly) written by AI, but engineered by a human. Make of that what you will."
This isn't the Alan Wake 2 VR mod UnflatVR listed on October 27. That one is a paid Patreon mod by NoMoreFlat.
