Independent developer Game Or Die (GameOrDie007) shipped free Unreal Gold VR and Unreal Tournament 99 VR on October 31, 2026, with follow-up fixes through November 1. Both are unofficial fan conversions on OldUnreal's patches, not Epic releases, and neither zip bundles the original game data.
Each build offers native PC VR over OpenXR plus standalone Quest 3 and Steam Frame play after PC-assisted setup. The README says the headset runs with no PC while you play once installed.
I haven't played either port. This is based on the two GitHub READMEs, release notes, and the art shipped inside the downloads.

GitHub asset totals are from Nov 2, 2026. UnflatVR lists both for PCVR, Quest and Steam Frame.
Standalone on Quest 3 and Steam Frame
The Quest download for each game is a PC-side zip. Setup.bat sideloads over USB after Developer mode is on in the Meta Horizon app. On Steam Frame, the same Quest zip adds Setup Steam Frame.bat. That needs the Frame on your home network, Developer Mode, a user password, and Lepton from the Store, then one pairing under Settings → Developer → Pair new host.
Standalone Unreal Gold plays as version 226 so it can join the same servers as PC, per the README. With no compatible copy on the PC, Setup can pull the Unreal Gold CD image from the Internet Archive (650 MB, checksum-checked). Tournament standalone builds from the UT CD image (760 MB from the Archive) plus OldUnreal's 469e patch (106 MB from GitHub).
Both Frame builds run at 90 Hz with 4x anti-aliasing, the README says.

Cross-play and PC VR caveats
Multiplayer → Find Internet Games opens the browser on Favorites, where the Game Or Die server is listed. The README for both games says PC, Quest 3 and Steam Frame players all play there together.
For PC VR, Unreal Tournament is a 32-bit game. The UT README says Quest Link and Air Link should run through SteamVR, not Meta's own PC runtime, because Meta's app has no 32-bit OpenXR runtime. Gold's FAQ still lists Link and Air Link through Meta's app or SteamVR.
Windows installers are not code-signed; both READMEs tell you to use More info → Run anyway if SmartScreen blocks them.
Fixes since launch
Unreal Gold v1.0.1 (Oct 31) fixed Quest 3 and Steam Frame saves: saving had crashed, and Load Game restarted the level instead of loading. PC was unchanged.
Gold v1.0.2 and UT v1.0.1 (Nov 1) fix AMD PC framerate drops; NVIDIA was unchanged, and UT's Quest zip was untouched.
Gold v1.0.3 (Nov 1) fixed a Quest/Frame campaign stop at the fourth level, Dug, with Can't find Class in file 'Class Editor.TransBuffer', plus a later NagomiSun fault of the same kind. PC VR was unchanged again.
What the in-headset manual shows
Each port ships a Game Tome: VR Options opens the original manuals as a book, with Game Or Die pages up front. The welcome sheet in the v1.0.3 PCVR zip reads:

gameordie-001.jpg in the v1.0.3 PCVR release.
gameordie-001.jpg in the UT v1.0.1 PCVR release."Menus are the game's own flat menus on a panel: readable and clickable, not built for VR." — Unreal Gold VR README, Known issues
The same Known issues section adds that room-scale walking online follows a moment behind your head, and servers that run anti-cheat are not tested. UT's README matches.
Tested on: Meta Quest 3 over Virtual Desktop and the Steam Frame over SteamVR (PC), and Meta Quest 3 and Steam Frame standalone — wording shared on both READMEs as of v1.0.3 / v1.0.1.

Game Or Die's mods page also lists Doom VR on UZDoom. Mixed News wrote up the Unreal pair on Nov 1.
Both READMEs close with: "This is a fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games or OldUnreal."
