Gothic 3 VR 1.0 Ships Motion Melee and Physical Bows for Myrtana

PeCOS released Gothic 3 VR v1.0 on Nov 2 with full PCVR combat and progression; v1.0.1 hotfixed a stutter bug the same day.

Modder PeCOS shipped Gothic 3 VR v1.0.0 on Nov 2, 2026, the first stable flat-to-VR build for Piranha Bytes' 2006 open-world RPG. The mod adds stereoscopic PCVR with tracked hands, room-scale movement and motion-based melee, bows and controller-aimed magic while keeping Gothic's native skills, stamina and progression.

Hours later, release v1.0.1 landed as a performance hotfix. UnflatVR lists the mod at UFVR Grade A (92/100) with full-motion controls and a linked install guide. See our flat-to-VR primer and Dishonored 2 VR for the same motion-combat lane.

I haven't played it. This is based on PeCOS's GitHub releases and README, the installation guide, UnflatVR's listing, and the creator's launch video above.

What v1.0 adds

The v1.0.0 release notes call it:

"The first stable release of Gothic 3 VR: explore Myrtana in full stereoscopic VR with tracked hands and motion-based combat."

PeCOS built the mod for a full playthrough, not a tech demo. The README and START-HERE guide list motion swings for one-handed, dual-wield, two-handed and staff weapons, shield blocking, physical bow drawing, two-hand crossbows and magic aimed with the controller. Radial quick slots, Quick Loot, quick healing and remappable bindings sit on top of the native patch stack.

The reference hardware in the docs is Quest 3 / Touch with RTX 4080, tested on Steam, GOG and retail Gothic 3 with four community patches installed first. The launcher picks Virtual Desktop / VDXR, Meta Quest Link / Air Link, or SteamVR as the OpenXR runtime. Forsaken Gods is not supported.

Russian-language site DTF picked up the 1.0 drop the same day, noting the mod was tested on Quest 3 and that PeCOS wants feedback from other headsets.

v1.0.1 stutter fix

Same-day follow-up v1.0.1 targets stutter reported after the mod's square-VR resolution work. The release page says world-label sizing was repeating menu and lockpick checks for every nearby entity, including names the game never draws, and that the fix was confirmed in a Virtual Desktop headset test. Settings, controller maps and saves carry over; run Gothic3VR-1.0.1-Setup.exe over the existing install.

Downloads are on GitHub Releases and Nexus Mods. The project is GPL-3.0-or-later; you still need a legal Gothic 3 PC copy and the native patches, which the installer does not bundle.
